Thus ends my winding, wordy, 13-part series.
Now, back to more current topics.
And finding a job.
Any ideas?

I don’t know if I have any good ideas. I am, after all, in the stinking armpit of America here as
far as jobs for literate people go. I’m sure you’ve considered being an adjunct instructor.
Maybe it’s time to take the leap into freelance writing: essays, articles, interviews, book reviews,
etc. Bookslut.com is always looking for reviewers. Not sure if they pay, or how much they pay if
they do pay, but you never know.
Oh, man! I’m so sorry to hear this. No matter how you feel about your job, or what you’d rather be doing, it’s just sucky to have your career path determined by somebody other than you. My sympathies.
I’ll bet you’ll find something soon enough. But while you’re doing it, obviously you should be showering love and affection on your cute baby, your lovely wife, and your terrific writing. When I feel bad, the whole showering love on people who’ve been good to me seems to help, weirdly enough.
Hang in there!
xo,
Lily
Ouch. Job hunting, while something I actually liked to do (no lie), is hard work. Best wishes for that endeavor.
I write because I have to, also. I don’t have to torture myself and write every day and lose sleep over the lack of writing, but it bugs me if I can’t do it when I have the urge. Fortunately, I work in a really slow job these days and I can sneak in some writing time if I bring the old laptop.
now thats the best reason so far
have a great weekend
Buttons, I am so sorry that you lost your job.
PS: You ran one hell of a writing series.
Still waiting for the URL for your piece on EC.
“Yay capitalism.” Two words=a succinct, and exquisitely accurate, reflection on the national mood in today’s economy.
You totally deserve a job.
Dear Bookfraud: I was feeling blue the other day and then I read Malcolm Gladwell’s article, “Late Bloomers,” in Oct. 20 New Yorker. It’s a whole new way to think about creativity. Good luck. Today is the beginning of everything.
keep writing and will be hard to find a job seeing america is broke
You could always go work in a call center and listen to people complain all day. Surely, there’s writing to be gleaned from that. I’m thinking about doing it part-time for extra cash.
I wish I had a real answer for you, one that you could use, but I don’t. I’m in a very similar boat, as many writers are. The article, Late Bloomers, as Tai mentioned above, is pretty inspirational. Good luck.
