mark a york: i would agree that when it comes to media as institutions, it is not liberal, but i do think most journalists, in their personal beliefs, lean towards the left. that's been my experience, at least, and i've met a lot of the bastards. and i've never had my own politics vetted as a condition of employment.

doubleb: true liberalism in the classic sense? i would say that adherence to dogma is what gets us in trouble, not conservative or liberal ideas.

I just wonder how far true liberalism is from socialism and communism. Basically most liberals are for disarming the general public because "guns are evil" when a gun is only a chunk of metal. It's the person who uses it for an illegal purpose that is evil. Not the gun. That is how most of the media portrays it too.

This is a conservative myth. Every time someone claims this and is asked for proof we get things like numbers of opinion columnists, countered by conservative owners of so-called liberal papers. What it means is most don't know the op-ed page from the news. Show me a biased news story? They never can. Voting means nothing. Many journalists dont even vote and are apolitical. Rush is a fool and anyone who agrees goes down that yellow brick road with him. That's an opinion.

As a guy trying to market that j-degree it's as dismal as you say, only up the pay to $10 an hour. They pay dishwashers that much. Moreover as a liberal blogger I can't get hired as a reporter so far. If they were all liberal wouldn't they want me by default? It ain't real. It's a myth.

kero: the press was intimidated by 9/11, and anyone who dared investigate bush's world was branded a traitor. i also think that they've given bush a pass because of a)they don't want to be labeled "liberal" and b)they gave him a long leash after 9/11. but now i think the gloves are off, indicated by the white house's eagerness to jail journalists.

madamed: i hope you're not trying to tell us something.
